Interlaminar Strength Analysis of Bonded Carbon Fiber Rods

چکیده
Interlaminar failure of bonded composite structures is quite often. Nowadays there a lot lightweight high reliability carbon or glass fiber (CFRP GFRP) reinforced polymer constructions with rods. In order to better understand the delamination processes rods, analytical equations were analyzed. Later, mode I interlaminar experiments CFRP rods 3x3 mm performed and fracture toughness GIC = 135 J/m2 was found. According analytic equations, experiment values, given literature, finite element model (FEM) created in software LS-Dyna. Most differences between experimental simulated force-displacement curves are not higher than 6 % what validates FEM Also, additional methods, such as peridynamics bond area Offered approach very useful for creation design evaluate GFRP constructions.

Relationship of Interface Fracture Energy and Interlaminar Shear Strength of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composite under Hydrothermal Treatment
The mechanical and physical properties of composite materials are greatly influenced by the structure and properties of fiber/matrix interface. Short beam shear test is often performed to evaluate the laminar interface properties in real applications, especially for studying them after a given hydrothermal treatment. However, the results depend on the interface and the matrix properties, so the...
متن کاملEffect of TEOS Electrospun Nanofiber Modified Resin on Interlaminar Shear Strength of Glass Fiber/Epoxy Composite
Interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of fiber reinforced polymer composite is an important property for most of the structural applications. Matrix modification is an effective method used to improve the interlaminar shear strength of composite. In this paper, EPON 862/w epoxy system was modified using Tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) electrospun nanofibers (ENFs) which were produced using electro...
متن کاملInvestigation of interlaminar shear strength in carbon epoxy and carbon epoxy carbon nanotubes using experimental and finite element technique
The present study concerns experimental and fin ite element analysis of carbon epoxy and carbon epoxy carbon nanotube composites to estimate interlaminar shear strength. Mechanical properties such as elastic ratios, thickness are varied for double notched specimen and the corresponding deflections and interlaminar shear strengths are estimated by ANSYS. From simple ru le of mixtures, equivalent...
متن کاملMechanical Behavior of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Beams Bonded with External Carbon Fiber Sheets
This study investigates the mechanical behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams internally reinforced with steel bars and externally bonded with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets fixed by adhesive and hybrid jointing techniques. In particular, attention is paid to the load resistance and failure modes of composite beams. The steel fibers were used to avoiding the rip...

The effect of moisture absorption and high temperature on the compressive strength of unidirectional IM7/977-2 carbon/epoxy resins have been investigated experimentally. The specimens were divided into 4 groups, and tested under 4 different conditions by varying the testing temperature and moisture parameters. The fiber orientation selected were 0o, ±45o and 90o...
